BIRMINGHAM I LOVE YOU – Twin Atlantic probably, me certainly.

You just can’t beat the combination of Twin and Birmingham. It’s something extra special, a different feeling in the air. And it’s so, so fucking awesome.

Got into Birmingham with Laureen and Marine just a bit past 12 and while wandering around the station I see a tweet mentioning Twin playing a small set at the library. Ten minutes to go at that time, so this happened:

Goddamn,  but it was stressful. Got there in time though and tumbled out of the taxi and off to the Budweiser tour bus. Sam and Ross played Brothers & Sisters/Hold On/Oceans/Heart & Soul to all of us maybe 15 people and it was sweet. Happy about Oceans as they’re not playing it on the main set and nice to hear it acoustic.

Off to the venue where we spent the day eating pizza (again, oops) and… Here I continue writing a day later because of, well you guessed it, Megabus fucking up again last night.
Eating pizza and listening to music and it was all good. In we went at 7pm and the first artist tonight had a loop pedal so of course I was instantly in love. Nice mix of singer/songwriter and beatboxing.

Second band was of course Dive In and by this point there may have been alcohol involved and Laureen and I decided we were their biggest fans ever. That said, the sound was also much better than the day before, good stuff.

And then, well, Twin Atlantic in Birmingham. All the love, all the smiles all the dancing and headbanging. Crowd was superb, band was superb everything was superb. You simply can’t beat it (okay Perth, but that was it’s own thing).
Same setlist as the night before just with more energy and more… electricity.
Always a good review when you need to spontaneously hug someone after the show!

Next up is Leeds (where, it turns out, I haven’t been. That was Liverpool back in 2011 with 22 and Arcane Roots apparently haha, good memory!), and I can’t wait! Celebrating my birthday 3 days in a row, feat. Nothing But Thieves, Twin Atlantic and all the best people!

Headed back to the hostel after having ANOTHER pizza, and I showed off Charlie The Unicorn/Llamas With Hats/Marshmallow People to Danielle and Jessica who had never seen them before. Apparently they’re weird if you’ve never seen them before haha. Rolled into bed  in the middle of the night to try and be alive for London the morning after (worked out okay actually).

Twin Atlantic – Pumpehuset, Copenhagen 11/11

(All written on my phone at different times during the same day or the day after. Tense, who needs it eh?)

Might as well start on today since I’m in the cold with no wifi (woe is me!). Started the day at 5:30am, miraculously un-hungover. Off to Hamburg Hbf and the train. I slept a lot, and it was good. Arrived in Copenhagen and went to the hostel via the venue. As we may have guessed it was empty except for the lonely blue bus outside. Which doesn’t seem rented btw, but owned. Interesting if you find the life and times of tourbuses interesting. I do, should ask someone about this.

Anywaaay. Onwards to the hostel which. is. awesome. Like a cross between my favourites in London and Birmingham but maybe even better. They have a free dinner! Which I didn’t have any of because I had to be at the venue at 6:30 when dinner started. It’s now a quarter past seven and there’s… six of us here.  I could’ve had dinner. And, well here I am. Listening to The Feud and drinking my beer. Thinking they could let us in now please, it’s actually cold.

Might continue this when I get inside. It’ll be my longest post ever haha.
Inside now and we are… 16 people here.

Oops, gotta continue writing here! Small room was lovely, though really I like everything about Pumpehuset. Had some beer and started talking to two danish girls who were standing beside me. Love meeting new people at gigs! Just one of the many reasons I do this. Turned out to be the right kind of people too, did we rock out or what??

The Xcerts came on and I thought they were even better than the night before. So good live, and Shaking in the Water is a bit of live magic. Wish they would have setlists though, if only so I could remember names and order better. There’s one song that’s ridiculously great live with them and I can’t think of the name now at all. (It’s Slackerpop) Oh well, had a great time anyway!

After about 128 toilet breaks it was time for Twin again! Ah, so good. No Caribbean this time though, and still no Cell Mate. Did get to hear Actions That Echo, which was really good live. Above all Oceans came to its right and was AMAZING. That’s how it should be. Crowd was a lot less wild though, but of course it’s hard to keep up the same amount of energy with only about 75 people there. As a result there was a bit less feeling but hey, me and the danish girls headbanged and jumped as best we could haha. Last part of the setlist was unchanged and Heart And Soul really does hold up as a last song. Epic!

Then followed some beer time (I found dry cider aw yeah) before making it back to the hostel where I looked forward to some deep sleep. That I didn’t get. 200 degrees in the room,  definitely getting a bed in a smaller dorm next time!

Twin Atlantic börjar släppa turnédatum idag.
För november.

Vilket får mig att inse att jag borde vänta till den turnén. Inte spendera pengar jag knappt har på två datum om två veckor. Som jag isf kan boka en vecka innan ungefär. Med andra ord när det är svindyrt. 3500:- räcker längre om jag spenderar dem på en novemberturné.

Men åh, som jag vill. Det är ju SMÅ datum i Skottland. Varför de också är utsålda, men det behöver vi ju inte snacka så högt om. Sånt löser sig alltid.
Om man vill. Det är förstås också ganska små datum i Europa i november. Men ssch.

Oavsett kan jag trösta mig med att jag faktiskt kan planera för november nu. Att jag faktiskt SKA iväg. Fyra år att ta igen sedan jag såg dem första gången, så det borde ju bli några datum..!

Nu ska vi se! Veckan!
I måndags var jag hos Therése. Pizza, vin och yatzy (WINNING) på balkongen. Hur fint som helst. Iväg till Sundsvall på tisdagen där det såldes på bra och sedan faktiskt blev något slags partey på kvällen. Shots alltså. Livsfarligt. Läggdags vid fem eller så på morgonen och sen kan man säga att jag sov gott i bilen till Stockholm. Trött dag i soffan sedan och…. pizza till middag. Hoppsan.

Iväg igen morgonen efter, meep meep, mot Söderhamn! Grymt skön dag, frappe på Waynes, promenerade och till och med lite shopping. Nåja, en bikiniunderdel. Samma kväll satte jag säljrekord för egen del! Woho! Och precis efter spelningen brakade grymmaste åskvädret någonsin lös. Jag stod under tak med perfekt utsikt på mot blixtarna och var hur nöjd som helst. Oklart om folk i signeringskön höll med 😉 Tillbaka på hotellet sedan gjorde jag något helt ofattbart. Nämligen tränade. För första gången på ett år. Träningsvärken igår, två dagar senare.. tja. Kunde ju inte gå så bra, kan man säga.

I fredags var vi i Åsele, på Åsele Marknad. Inte min bästa dag, på något plan. Jättemärkligt väder och jättemärkligt humör. Är dessutom rätt säker på att jag hade en del feber, vilket inte hjälpte direkt. Midnattsgig där, grym publik! Sedan iväg till Sollefteå två på natten. Första timman var jag faktiskt lycklig att jag inte flög hem. Norrland, sommarnatt, Ångemanälven och dimslöjor. Så otroligt, otroligt, otroligt vackert. Efter det rullade dock den värsta dimma jag någonsin sett in. Försökte fota men det gick inte att göra det rättvisa, hur lite man såg och hur tjock den var. Rätt läskigt, när den höll i sig i en timme.

Kom hem igår och. Åt pizza till middag. Herregud. This gotta stop!
Sen tittade jag på Sherlock i fem timmar, till halv fyra på morgonen. …oops.

Pizza! Och det värsta är att jag skulle inte tacka nej till en idag.

I’m obsessed with the feeling that I want to tour.

Jag kommer inte ihåg senast jag såg såhär mycket fram emot turnédatum. Och det var lättare innan, faktiskt. Eftersom jag har så stora planer för de här datumen har jag, min vana trogen, hängt upp mitt liv på dem. Jobbar jag är det för att kunna spendera pengar på turnén. Hela mitt mål med att ta tag i kosten och motionen är för att vara i bättre form till turnén. Förvisso bra att ha mål. Men emellanåt är det lite jobbigt att se såhär mycket fram emot en turné som inte är släppt än.

Särskilt med den gnagande känslan att jag har fyra år att ta igen.

Särskilt som albumet inte ens släpps förrän 18augusti.
Åh. Släpp datum nu då.

But until then, dance.
