But there are, of course, exceptions.
Royal Republic for example can pull off having the bandmembers on the cover because their photos are always fantastic. And their backgrounds aren’t messy.
Same for a lot of british pop/rock bands. Texas can have the bandmembers on the cover without me getting grumpy 
But no, generally I think cd covers should be artwork, not a place to show off who’s in the the band. Also, artwork is so much more fun to get tattoo motives from.
